The University of Vienna (15 faculties, 4 centres, about 188 fields of study, approx. 9.400 staff members, more than 90.000 students) announces the position of a University Assistant (prae doc) at the Department of Art History.

The advertised position plays an important role in the Laboratory for Cognitive Research in Art History that is part of the Department of Art History, one of the oldest and largest institutions of its type (http://kunstgeschichte.univie.ac.at/en/forschung/laboratory-for-
cognitive-research-in-art-history/). We use cognitive methods ranging from questionnaires to physiological measurements (especially eye-tracking) to determine how the qualities of the work (form and content), of the observer (individually and culturally), and of the context affect the beholding of aesthetic objects.

Occupation group is in accordance with collective bargaining agreement (§48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe, praedoc, gross annual salary ca. € 26.900). On top of this, relevant chargeable work experience may determine the assessment to a particular salary grade.

The position involves the coordination of all activities in the Laboratory for Cognitive Research in Art History, the realization of a PhD project and the support of the research of Prof. Rosenberg in this
area, independent teaching in art history, and the participation in the administration of the department.

Profile: Master degree in Art History (with distinction), or an equivalent degree, excellent computer skills, team skills, excellent knowledge of German and English, experience in empirical research and/or programming is desirable.
