FURNITURE HISTORY SOCIETY EARLY CAREER RESEARCH SEMINAR.
Hosted by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (24 janv. 2024).
The Furniture History Society invites submissions from post graduate students, museum curators and those at an early stage in their career for a symposium dedicated to the history of furniture and interiors in Britain, Europe and the United States. This seventh Research Seminar for emerging scholars will take place on 24 January 2024 and will be held in New York, hosted by the European, British and American furniture departments of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The symposium aims to present current research by emerging scholars and provides an exceptional opportunity for them to share ideas with curators, conservators, furniture makers and other members of the Furniture History Society. We invite proposals that engage with furniture in a global world, from all periods to the present day, exploring the interconnections between furniture makers from different localities or different countries, whether directly through trade, travel, immigration or emigration, or indirectly through the influence of designers and patrons.
Applicants are requested to send a current CV and a 300-word abstract outlining the topic of a 20- minute paper to grants@furniturehistorysociety.org by 20 September, 2023. Some funding may be available for travel expenses.
