Appel à communication : « VI International Conference : Actual Problems of the Theory and History of Art. Renaissance and European Art » (Moscou, 27-31octobre 2015)

Dear friends and colleagues,

The Department of History and Theory of Art at the Faculty of History of Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Institute of History of Saint Petersburg State University invite you to take part in the Sixth international conference “Actual Problems of Theory and History of Art”.

The conference will take place on October 27-31, 2015, in Moscow, at the Faculty of History of Lomonosov Moscow State University.

The 2015 conference will be held in cooperation with Moscow Kremlin Museums.

The conference is dedicated to the actual problems of theory and history of visual arts and architecture, as well as to the problems of interaction between Russian and other national artistic traditions.
The main topic of the 2015 conference will be “Renaissance and the Art of Europe”.
We also accept applications on other subjects regarding the history of art from the Antiquity to Modern times. Besides the plenary other prospected sessions will cover the following fields: Ancient art, Eastern Christian Art, Old Russian art, Western Medieval art, Art of the Renaissance, Western art ca. 1600-1900, Western art of the 20th c. and Contemporary art, Russian art ca. 1700-1900, Russian art of the 20th c. and Contemporary Russian art, Theory of art.
Communications can be presented orally or in posters.
We plan to make a special session in Moscow Kremlin Museums in order to investigate the interaction between the art of Renaissance and of Old Rus, as well as the reception of Western art in Early Modern and Modern Russian culture.
The working languages of the conference will be Russian and English.

The applications and abstracts of papers (up to 2000 characters) are accepted before May 15, 2015 in electronic form at the website: http://actual-art.spbu.ru/en/about/submission.html.

Postgraduate and Ph.D. students should also provide a recommendation letter of their academic supervisor who can either write personally from his/her email to the email of the organizing committee conference@actual-art.org or print and sign a letter on paper. In the latter case it is the applicant who should scan the letter and upload it together with his/her application at the website.
