andy-warhol1Re bus | a journal of art history & theory Call for Articles Re bus is looking for contributions for its upcoming 2016 Special Issue, entitled « Cultural Production in the 20th and 21st Centuries: Art Collectives, Institutions and Culture Industry ». The editors welcome articles by scholars of all disciplines (Art History, History, Sociology, etc.) surrounding the topics below, with a focus on the nature of organization, the collective, the industry, and their social relations and functions: Avant-garde and Neo-avant-garde Art movements and art collectives Artist-run spaces (studios, NGOs, etc.) (De)limitations of artist organisations? Galleries, museums, public institutions International exhibitions: prizes, art fairs, biennales Auction houses Cultural media (analogue or digital) Visual culture (film, design, videogames, etc.) Please write an abstract of 600-800 words of your proposal, and send it to rebus@essex.ac.uk<mailto:rebus@essex.ac.uk> before January 4, 2016. The finalised articles should be 5000-7000 words in length, and their publication is subject to peer-review. The editors are also willing to consider exhibition reviews 1000-3500 words long, which should be sent to the same address no later than March 20, 2016. This last date will be the deadline for all articles accepted, the notice of which will be given by January 19, 2016.

Articles should be written in a high standard of UK English, and should contain no more than 10 images. Please note that all copyright permissions for images must be secured by the author, and that all image reproduction costs are also borne by the author. re·bus is the postgraduate journal of the Department of Art History and Theory at the University of Essex, UK, launched in Spring 2008. Founded and edited by postgraduate students of the department, the journal publishes peer reviewed papers that present new research and fresh perspectives on art and its histories as well as related aspects of cultural theory.
