Faculty Position: Assistant or Associate Professor of Art History, 1400-1800 (Global), Institute of Fine Arts (IFA).

The Institute of Fine Arts of New York University seeks applicants at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track) or recently tenured Associate Professor whose scholarship demonstrates a global perspective on the art of the fifteenth through the eighteenth centuries. We are especially interested in candidates whose work reimagines the critical parameters of
the period and contributes to methodological innovation in the discipline.

The Institute of Fine Arts is a graduate educational institution serving MA and PhD students in art history, archaeology, and fine art conservation. The teaching load is two courses per semester. The successful candidate will teach graduate seminars and lectures, in addition to occasional courses in NYU’s undergraduate programs. Mentoring and advising MA and PhD
students is also a significant component of this position.

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary of this position for Assistant Professor has a salary range of $90,000-$140,000 per annum, plus travel and research stipend and full benefits. For an Associate Professor, the salary range for this position is $100,000-$150,000 per annum, plus travel and research stipend and full
benefits, commensurate with experience.

Qualifications:

Requirements include a PhD, a record of scholarly accomplishment, and a demonstrated commitment to teaching.
Candidates must have completed the Ph.D. by September 1, 2024, the start date of this appointment.
