The Madrid Institute for Advanced Study (MIAS) and the Centre d’études Picasso, the research centre of the Musée national Picasso-Paris, are launching a new call for applications for a three-month research residency.
This program aims to support research related to the critical and cultural receptions of Pablo Picasso’s work in Latin America, while fostering academic mobility and scholarly exchange between Madrid and Paris. It is open to researchers and artists holding a PhD and pursuing a career of excellence in the fields of the arts, humanities, social sciences, and law.
The Madrid Institute for Advanced Study (#MIAS) is an international research institute based in Madrid, created and jointly directed by the Casa de Velázquez and the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, dedicated to academic excellence and interdisciplinary dialogue in the arts, humanities, social sciences, and law.
The call is open to applicants who:
– Hold a PhD
– Have a good command of at least two languages (English, French, Spanish)
– Conduct research on the receptions of Picasso’s work in Latin America
– Propose a project aligned with the scientific orientations of MIAS and the Casa de Velázquez
The selected candidate will benefit from a non-renewable three-month research stay to be carried out between September 2026 and July 2027. The residency will be supported by a fellowship (funding amount and conditions detailed in the call) and will take place between Madrid and Paris, with six weeks spent in each city. The researcher will be hosted at the Casa de Velázquez in Madrid and at the Colegio de España in Paris.
