Poste enseignant histoire de l’art université de Haifa

The Department of Art History at the University of Haifa, Israel, invites applications for an open-rank, tenure-track position to begin in October 2024.

We welcome applications in all fields in Art History and Visual Culture, but candidates specializing in one or more of the following fields are particularly encouraged to apply: Classical Art, Renaissance Art, Islamic Art, Asian Art, visual culture, digital media, animation, machine vision and robotics in the context of new media art.
Candidates must provide proof of rich experience and research excellence in their field of study and a high commitment to teaching.

Job Requirements
Teaching eight hours per week, training of research students in advanced degrees (MA and PhD), and active involvement in all the department and faculty activities.

Qualifications
– Candidates holding a PhD with relevant teaching experience and a strong publication record are invited to apply.
– A post-doctorate at a leading academic institution in Israel or abroad will be an advantage.
– University level teaching experience is required.
– Ability to teach varied fields of knowledge will be an advantage.
– Priority will be given to applicants eligible for the Alon and Maof Fellowships that are awarded by the Israeli Council for Higher Education to outstanding tenure-track faculty eligible for or holding Israeli citizenship or permanent residency.

Application Instructions
Candidates should submit: a cover letter; a detailed CV including a list of publications; a statement of research interests and future research plans; a detailed proposal for three courses on various subjects (each proposal must include the title of the course, its objectives, and syllabus); letters of recommendation from three experts in the field, including the PhD supervisor and the post-doctoral supervisor.

All applications should be sent by May 1, 2023, to Ms. Sigal Ben Yair, Administrative Assistant to the Head of the Department of Art History: art-history@univ.haifa.ac.il.

Candidates selected for the final stage will be invited to give a talk to the department’s faculty and graduate students.

The position is open to all ranks. The final acceptance of a candidate is subject to budgetary approval of the university administration.
