The Birth of Architecture Competition in the Florence Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore: Politics and Economics
Based on overlooked documents, this paper focus on the first documented attempt to organize an architectural competition, the result of fluid political and economic dynamics within the large construction of the Florence cathedral in which collide interests of the Commune, of the Merchants and of the Clergy.
