The acceptance of Pop Art in Belgian private and public collections and its influence on the Belgian art scene has barely been researched in the past six decades. Nevertheless, the Belgian art world was exposed relatively early to what Karel Geirlandt called the ‘New Figuration’. From 1963 onwards, Pop began to infiltrate the Belgian art scene. First as a part of larger (international) exhibitions, later on as part of (private) collections and finally within the styles of Belgian artists.
