L’institut d’histoire de l’art de la Freie Universität de Berlin ouvre une bourse de doctorat dans le champ de l’histoire des arts d’Afrique pour une durée de 36 mois. Les projets sont à envoyer jusqu’au 31 juillet 2017.
The Institute of Art History at Free University Berlin will award the first “Alfried Krupp von Bohlen and Halbach-PhD scholarship” for dissertation projects in the field of African art history. Applicants are invited to submit PhD proposals with a thematic focus on historical and tradition-based arts, including their updates in the present. The projects may be designed as co-operations with museum or important private collections in Europe/America as well as in Africa. Candidates are expected to have an excellent Master’s degree in African art history (or a neighboring discipline). They must be prepared to take up their residence in Berlin during the funding period and to participate in the activities of the institute. They are expected to have an outstanding qualification for scholarly research as well as an innovative dissertation project, which can successfully be completed within the funding period. Research experience in Africa as well as publications or exhibition projects are welcomed. Applicants without German nationality should have a German language proficiency of C1.
The fellowship is awarded for three years (36 months) and can be extended by a maximum of six additional months. The monthly scholarship rate is € 1.300. Research stays in African countries are encouraged and subsidized for a maximum of six months with an additional allowance of up to € 1.000 per month.
