Tenure-Track Assistant Professor, Medieval or Renaissance Art History (Ref.: 201501246)

Applications are invited for a tenure-track appointment as Assistant Professor in Medieval or Renaissance Art History, to commence on September 1, 2016, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.

The Department of Fine Arts (http://www.fa.hku.hk) has one of the best art history programs in Asia, with six full-time art historians spanning Western and Asian art, and with special strength in intercultural study. There are on average 35 undergraduate majors per year, plus a few M.Phil. and Ph.D. students. All instruction is in English.

The appointee should have a Ph.D. degree before taking up the appointment. A globally competitive remuneration package commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, as well as annual leave and medical benefits.  Salary range HKD $619,860 – $958,020 per annum (roughly USD $79,469 – $122,823 at current exchange rates) depending on qualifications.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.  Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
