Appel à candidatures : « L’Art du Baroque », Prix Alfonso E. Pérez Sánchez (2015)

The Focus-Abengoa Foundation is pleased to announce the V Alfonso E. Pérez Sánchez International Prize “The Art of the Baroque” 2015. This prize was created in 2009 to honour and perpetuate the work of the art historian Alfonso E. Pérez Sánchez, an exemplary researcher and educator who trained several generations of historians and was a leading expert on Baroque painting and drawing in Spain and Italy.

This fifth edition aims to recognise and promote new scholarly research into Spanish Baroque art and its relationship with Europe and the Americas. The jury will also consider works with a multidisciplinary or integrative focus.

Prize Rules

I
The prize consists of 24,000 euros. It is subjected to personal income tax or non-resident personal income tax in accordance with the Spanish legislation currently in force.

II
The research submitted must be original, hitherto unpublished and authored by an individual or a team. If it was written by a team, an authorised representative must be designated for the purposes of these rules. Works that have already won another prize or have a prior publication commitment will not be eligible.

III
The Foundation reserves the right to publish and disseminate the work selected by means of an arrangement with a renowned publishing house. To this end, the author(s) hereby grant the Focus-Abengoa Foundation the exclusive right to reproduce, distribute, publicise and transform the work, including translation of the same, for the entire world and for the maximum period of time permitted under law, regardless of its format.

IV
The work should be submitted both in hard copy and digital format. It should be written in either Spanish, English, French, Italian or German. An abstract and a brief curriculum vitae of the author(s) should be submitted with the text.

V
The work, together with the required documentation, should be sent by registered mail with signature on delivery to:

The deadline for receiving submissions is the 30th of September 2015.

VI
The Foundation’s Board of Trustees will appoint a jury of international experts in the field. The names of its members will be made public when the prize recipient(s) are announced.

VII
The jury’s decision will be announced in the month of December 2015. The prize will not be divided nor the amount of the endowment decreased, although the jury may choose not to make any award. For team projects, the amount of the prize shall be divided proportionally by the number of members.

VIII
Submissions not awarded a prize should be collected by the author(s) at the headquarters of the Focus-Abengoa Foundation until 1 March 2016. After that date, any unclaimed submissions will be destroyed.

IX
Submission of work to compete for this prize implies the author’s/authors’ full and unconditional acceptance of these rules and of the opinions and decisions of the jury and the foundation’s Board of Trustees, which will be final.
