The IHTP Seminar on Dress History lead by Maude Bass-Krueger and Sophie Kurkdjian, in collaboration with Adelheid Rasche (Lipperheidesche Kostümbibliothek, Kunstbibliothek, Berlin), is organizing two study days on Franco-German exchanges in fashion. Scheduled for early Summer and early Fall 2016, these study days will allow us to diversify our approach to fashion history and enrich our understanding of the “connected history” between these two countries by looking at their intwoven networks of people, ideas, and techniques.
We welcome proposals on the following topics (this list is not exhaustive):
– German couturiers and stylists in Paris (Gustave Beer, Christoph Drecoll, Ré Soupault, Yorn, Karl Lagerfeld, Lutz Hülle…) // French couturiers in Germany
– German artists in France (fashion illustrators & photographers such as Willy Maywald, Regi Relang, Trude Rein, Peter Lindbergh) // French artists in Germany (fashion illustrators & photographers)
