The Burlington Magazine’s Travel Bursaries to study collections of European drawings.
We are delighted to announce a new initiative: The Burlington Magazine Travel Bursaries, generously funded by the Rick Mather David Scrase Foundation.
These bursaries are designed to support emerging art historians undertaking research on old master drawings. The awards will fund travel to major collections worldwide to study works of Western art on paper from the Renaissance to 1900.
Typical awards will range from £2,000–£2,500 for travel within Europe and £3,000–£3,500 for intercontinental travel. Applications are welcomed from postgraduate and curatorial researchers worldwide.
The deadline for applications is Sunday, 1 February 2026.

Le Prix d’aide à la publication Bella Maniera
Grâce à la dotation d’un mécène, l’association Bella Maniera propose, chaque année pendant trois ans, une aide à la publication destinée aux historiennes et historiens de l’art pour des travaux sur le dessin ancien. Le prix, d’un montant de 3 000 €, prévoit d’accompagner la réalisation d’une publication : article, catalogue d’exposition, livre monographique ou thématique sur le dessin ancien et du XIXe en Europe.

Greco-Roman mythology has served as an inexhaustible source of inspiration for artists of past eras, playing a significant role in shaping European art and culture. Postdoctoral Fellowship, The Morgan Drawing Institute
The Morgan Drawing Institute will award one nine-month Postdoctoral Research Fellowship to a scholar in the first decade of their career following the completion of the Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree. The Postdoctoral Research Fellowship supports an independent research project, ideally working toward a clearly defined publication relating to some aspect of the history, theory, collecting, function, or interpretation of drawings.

The Morgan Drawing Institute and the Menil Drawing Institute, Houston, will award one research fellowship of three to nine months to support independent projects on some aspect of the history, theory, interpretation, or cultural meaning of drawing throughout the history of art. The Morgan Library & Museum seeks applications for the Moore Curatorial Fellowship in the Department of Drawings and Prints. This one-year appointment, eligible for a one-year renewal, provides the opportunity to gain firsthand experience and professional training in curatorial work and in the study and connoisseurship of old master and nineteenth-century drawings. Master Drawings is NOW accepting submissions for the 8th Annual Ricciardi Prize of $5,000!
The deadline is November 15, 2025.
The award is given for the best new and unpublished article on a drawing topic (of any period) by a scholar under the age of 40. The winning submission will be published in a 2026 issue of Master Drawings. In addition to the prize money the winner and runner up are invited as our guests to present their respective research at the Master Drawings annual symposium.
