The National Gallery (NG) in Prague has opened a call for
Director of Collection of Old Masters
Director of Collection of Art of the 19th Century
Director of Collection of Modern and Contemporary Art
Qualifications:
– Completed university education in the field of art history, cultural history or equivalent – Ph.D. or other comparable university qualification
– Very good knowledge of at least two languages – must be able to speak and write fluently in English; another language is an advantage
– Minimum 5 years of curatorial experience, scholarship and research
– Contributed significant scholarly research and/or curatorial activities with international impact in the field of art history or cultural history
Other requirements:
– A strong personality with organizational and management skills, a good communicator and team player
– Ability to develop a concept for creating, protecting and presenting the collections
– Knowledge of basic legislation related to the protection of museum collections
– A good orientation of the Czech art scene and profound knowledge of the international context
– Very good computer skills (especially MS Office and database programs)
Job description:
– Develop strategies for the protection and presentation of the collections
– Managing the work of the NG Collection Department in scholarly research, methodology, and organization
– Responsible for the processing, documentation, preservation and storage of collections
– Provide suggestions for and cooperation in the organization of short-term exhibitions

Organization and terms:
The selection process will be over several rounds; an expert commission
committee will judge all applications.
