Third annual international conference dedicated to the 170th anniversary of the birth of Carl Fabergé

May 30, 2016 will mark 170 years since the birth of the great Russian jeweler Carl Fabergé. Today, Fabergé is one of the best-knownjewelers in the history of Decorative Arts. His works are displayed at high-profile museums worldwide and generate a huge interest. The Fabergé phenomenon continues by now to inspire scholars, collectors and jewelers around the world.

Fabergé Museum in Saint Petersburg owns the world’s largest collection of works by Carl Fabergé, including nine of the famous Imperial Easter Eggs, and aims to become the main international platform for the study of the art and life of the famous jeweler. In this year marking the 170th anniversary of Carl Fabergé, the museum dedicated its annual academic conference to Carl Fabergé, his firm’s activities in Russia and abroad, its place within Russian culture as well as to Fabergé’s influence on modern and contemporary jeweler’s art.

Unknown pages of Carl Fabergé’s biography
Carl Fabergé and Russian Art at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century
Carl Fabergé’s legacy in Saint Petersburg: architectural landmarks, archives and collections
Carl Fabergé in Europe: teachers, partners and clients
Carl Fabergé and the East
Carl Fabergé’s works in American collections
Carl Fabergé’s influence on jeweler’s art and design from the end of 19th century up to the present day.

Submission guidelines
The conference languages are English and Russian. Please submit a 300-word abstract, along with a 1-page max CV, to fabergemuseumconference@gmail.com, by 2016 August 15th.

A publication is planned. Participants will be asked to submit completed papers by September 1, 2016.
