You will curate the American collections, improving catalogue and documentation for artefact and pictorial collections. In addition you will undertake research related to the collection and manage and support the visits of source community members to the collection, and other research visits.

With a degree in Anthropology or a related subject, you will have extensive field experience in the Americas in relation to indigenous communities and will have demonstrated knowledge of indigenous American collections. In addition you will have the ability to work as a member of a team and engage with diverse audiences.

Salary: £26,820 per annum Contract: Permanent (Full time)

Two eight-week Terra Visiting Professorships in American Art are available through the Institut National d’Histoire de l’Art for the academic years 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 to a senior academic whose work examines American art and visual culture with a secondary specialization in transcultural context/transatlantic exchanges. The candidate is not required to hold a teaching position in American art history as long as American art, or art and visual culture produced in the United States, constitutes a substantial part of the candidate’s area of specialization and courses taught. The chronological focus of research and teaching can encompass, but is not limited to, 19th and 20th century American art and visual culture.
