The July issue of Art History Supplement, « History of painting, » aims to attract submissions considering, among others, the narrative element in and of painting, descriptions and roles of painting in fiction or the signification of particular ways of displaying painted art. Further, papers encompassing the concepts of: a) l’Ekphrasis (Description), b) l’Exégèse (Interpretation in its first historical context), c) l’Herméneutique (How and why something is perceived or understood that way in a particular context), le Théorique (the ideological or theoretical concepts behind the matter in question) in painting are highly valued and anticipated. Submission deadline June 17, 2012.
