The Bibliotheca Hertziana – Max Planck Institute for Art History in Rome is offering at the earliest opportunity

Predoctoral and Postdoctoral Fellowships (m, f, d)

in the department of Prof. Dr. Tanja Michalsky.

The department Michalsky welcomes projects in – but not necessarily limited to – its core research areas: https://www.biblhertz.it/de/dept-michalsky.

Project proposals are invited for funding periods of two to three years (predoctoral) or one to two years (postdoctoral). Successful candidates are expected to join a group of junior scholars working on one of the topics and to participate in the institute’s activities. They are also expected to present the results of their research during their stay at the Institute and to make use of the Institute’s facilities for presentations and publication.

Applications will be accepted through April 30, 2023.

Interviews will be held in May 2023.

Applications can be submitted in German, Italian or English. Good Italian language skills are required.

To be eligible, predoctoral candidates must be enrolled as doctoral students at a university.

Candidates must upload the following documents as separate PDF files to the application portal:

a description of the research project including bibliography (max 3 pages)
a curriculum vitae in table form (max 1 page)
a list of publications (if any), or a writing sample
a research timeline
Candidates must indicate the contact addresses of two potential referees (no letters of recommendation).
