 Exhibitions and Display in Dada and Surrealism
The journal Dada/Surrealism invites submissions for a special issue on exhibitions and display practices.
We seek essays that illuminate the relationship of Dada and Surrealism to exhibitionary practices past and present, from studies of early artist-organized events to considerations of recent blockbuster exhibitions and museum installations. Submissions (from any discipline or perspective) that consider other intersections of the concepts “exhibition” or “display” with Dada, Surrealism, their histories, or legacies are also welcome.  The Malevich Society is pleased to announce its grant competition for the year 2012. The Malevich Society is a not-for-profit organization based in New York City dedicated to advancing knowledge about the Russian artist Kazimir Malevich and his work.
In the belief that Malevich was a pioneer of modern art, and should be recognized for his key contributions to the history of Modernism, the Society awards grants to encourage research, writing, and other activities relating to his history and memory.

 Contribution for reference work on American women’s history
AMERICAN WOMEN’S HISTORY: AN ENCYCLOPEDIA, a five-volume reference work in American women’s history, edited by Hasia R. Diner (New York University), to be published by Facts on File, is seeking a contributor for an entry covering the history of women artists in the United States. This 1000-word entry should provide a broad overview of women’s participation in the visual arts from the colonial period to the present. While the project can offer only a very small, indeed token, honorarium, the encyclopedia should get wide use and will offer the public the best in American women’s history scholarship.  The Morgan Drawing Institute will award one or two Post-Doctoral Fellowships and one Pre-Doctoral Fellowship for the 2012-13 academic years.  The Smithsonian American Art Museum and its Renwick Gallery in Washington, D.C., invite applications for research fellowships in art and visual culture of the United States. A variety of predoctoral, postdoctoral, and senior fellowships are available. Fellowships are residential and support independent and dissertation research. The stipend for a one-year fellowship is $30,000 for predoctoral fellows or $45,000 for senior and postdoctoral fellows, plus generous research and travel allowances. The standard term of residency is twelve months, but shorter terms will be considered; stipends are prorated for periods of less than twelve months.
