 La découverte de l’horreur absolue, symbolisée par Auschwitz, a entraîné une « rupture de civilisation » qui s’exprime par des langages artistiques totalement repensés (esthétique du traumatisme). Si cette rupture est réelle en 1945, elle ne doit néanmoins pas occulter l’enjeu politique dont est rapidement investie la neue Musik : après quelques mois d’une unité de façade interalliée, les tensions idéologiques mènent à l’inévitable conflit de la Guerre froide et les politiques artistiques se radicalisent rapidement d’un camp à l’autre. Les années 1945-1949 en Allemagne doivent donc être envisagées comme l’articulation complexe entre des ambitions esthétiques de rupture totale par rapport à un passé immédiat et de nouveaux enjeux idéologiques, géopolitiques et stratégiques.

C’est d’abord la place de ce surgissement paroxystique de l’intime inarticulé dans l’économie de l’œuvre que cette journée d’étude propose d’explorer.
