En 2003, l’entrée en guerre des États-Unis contre l’Irak entraîne une forte contestation pacifiste. Des photographes dénoncent l’intervention à travers des montages ramenant le conflit sur le territoire américain, introduisant la guerre, avec ses soldats et ses blessés, au cœur de la vie quotidienne. L’éloquente tradition du montage anti-guerre, incarnée par Martha Rosler, se renouvelle sous la forme de la projection (Jean-Christian Bourcart), de la mise en scène (Jennifer Karady), du portrait (Suzanne Opton) ou du documentaire (Nina Berman). Terra Foundation Research Travel Grants
The Terra Foundation for American Art Research Travel Grants provide support to doctoral, postdoctoral, and senior scholars from both the US and outside the US for research topics dedicated to the art and visual culture of the United States prior to 1980. The grants foster firsthand engagement with American artworks and art-historical resources; build networks for non-US-based scholars studying American art; and expand access to artworks, scholarly materials, and communities for US-based scholars studying American art in an international context.

This fellowship is designed to build capacity and professional expertise in American art history by supporting the research of postdoctoral scholars from outside the United States. Voici une sélection de bases d’images de musées étrangers (et quelques bibliothèques et agences nationales…), conservant des collections (peintures, sculptures, dessins…) se rattachant à l’art occidental de la période moderne. Dans la mesure du possible, nous avons créé un lien vers le moteur de recherche avancée de la base.
